The 16 Indictement Man… Rep. William “Cold Hard Cash” Jefferson (D-LA)

In Corruption, Criminal, Politicians, power, William Jefferson on June 4, 2007 at 1:04 pm

william-jefferson-2.jpgThe Justice Dept. has finally handed down indictments after a 2 1/2 year investigation of Corruption of Congressman Jefferson. Now let’s not forget this was the man who was found with 90,000 dollars stashed in the freezer. He’s just the latest example of government “Of the people, by the people and for the people” flushed down the toilet YEARS ago. It comes from the Democrats and it comes from the Republicans. We need some new blood to be infused in there to:

A) Clean it up and pass stricter corruption laws and make sure they’re enforced

or

B) Limit the role and the size of the national government because if you can keep it closer to you, you can better keep your eye on it.

The 16-count indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Alexandria, Va., charges Jefferson with solicitation of bribes, honest services wire fraud, money laundering, obstruction of justice, violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, racketeering, and conspiracy. The indictment alleges that from in or about August 2000 through in or about August 2005, Jefferson, while serving as an elected member of the U.S. House of Representatives, used his position and his office to corruptly seek, solicit and direct that things of value be paid to Jefferson and his family members in exchange for his performance of official acts to advance the interests of people and businesses who offered him the bribes.
