Murdoch Vs. Google

In Uncategorized on November 9, 2009 at 9:42 pm

By Daniel Costello

Rupert Murdoch, the media titan atop The Wall Street Journal and Britain’s The Times and The Sun newspapers, revealed over the weekend that he might remove his newspapers’ content from Google and its online search competitors in a bid to promote the practice of paying for content online.

Murdoch, who has been vocal that he believes the free use of newspaper content is threatening the viability of the media business, said his stable of newspapers could be taken off Google’s search index and others when his plan to implement paywalls on news sites begins as early as next summer.

“I think we will [remove our websites from Google's search index] but that’s when we start charging,” Murdoch said. He added: “The people who simply just pick up everything and run with it — steal our stories, we say they steal our stories – they just take them. That’s Google, that’s Microsoft, that’s Ask.com, a whole lot of people … they shouldn’t have had it free all the time, and I think we’ve been asleep.”

Are you kidding me ? Hey it’s your funeral dude

Having fun creating album covers from randomness

In Uncategorized on August 26, 2009 at 9:36 pm

More specifically from a little flickr meme dealing with creating album covers.

How to Make Your Own Album Cover

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 – Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 – Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.

These are some I’ve created:

Testing out WordPress iphone app

In Uncategorized on July 21, 2008 at 9:38 pm

So far so good. I like being able to blog while having nothing other than my phone. What separates this from the crippled workarounds prior (such as emailing to a specific address) us like night and day.

Essentially you were blogging blind before and not sure how the final post would look. Tagging and categorizing are easy. Also with the ability to place photos into the posting either by your photo library or snapping a pic within the app allow impule blogging from your pocket.

The most important element is the ability to preview the post before publishing.

UPDATE: Something I do wish for a future update is the ability to place or resize picture(s) within the post.
